An MPPT Strategy for Wind Turbines Combining Feedback Linearization and Model Predictive Control

This paper proposes a model predictive controller (MPC) design based on the optimal tip-speed ratio method for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of direct-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator (D-PMSG)-based wind energy conversion system (WECS). To eliminate nonlinearity and time-varying characteristics, control variable was added at turbine feedback-linearized to create linear time-invariant system, reducing computational burden MPC improving performance. MATLAB/Simulink simulations were performed results show that linearized has high fidelity. Compared traditional use an operating linearize it better adaptability turbulent speeds, stability rapidity system.
